Preserving Athens' Architectural Heritage
Walking in time Athens is dedicated to preserving Athens' architectural heritage, which is a part of the endangered heritage in Europe. Our team uses advanced 3D modeling techniques to recreate and digitally preserve historical landmarks and Athens lost architectural identity .

Our mission is to research, document, and share the architectural heritage of Athens that has gradually disappeared from the city’s landscape. Over the past decade, we have collected and organized historical material that reveals a forgotten urban beauty—when Athens was shaped by remarkable buildings and an architectural character comparable to other European capitals.
Through research, visual documentation, and public engagement, we aim to preserve the memory of this lost architecture and inspire a deeper appreciation for the cultural identity and urban history of the city.
ATHENS 20 th century DIGITAL STIMULATION

Is an ongoing research initiative dedicated to documenting the city’s lost architectural heritage. Over the past ten years, we have collected and organized historical material that reveals the remarkable urban landscape Athens once possessed. As part of this work, we have recorded and mapped more than 1,000 demolished buildings on a detailed 2D map, creating a visual archive of the city that has gradually disappeared.
Our vision is to reconnect Athens with its architectural memory. By documenting lost buildings, mapping their locations, and sharing their stories, we aim to highlight the cultural value of the city’s historic urban fabric and inspire greater awareness, preservation, and appreciation for Athens’ architectural heritage.
